"Alexis Morgan continues her red-hot paranormal series with a mysterious warrior and his forbidden love for a woman who's allegiance lies with his sworn enemy. . . ."
Once a warrior for the Others, Barak q'Young is caught between two worlds -- exiled from his homeland, and a pariah among his enemies, the Paladins. While hunting a betrayer who's selling the precious blue gems that light the Others' world, Barak must aid geologist Lacey Sebastian in her research for the Paladins. Barak is instantly drawn to the fiery, beautiful woman, but Lacey initially despises the enemy intruder. Soon she sees beyond his violent past, though, finding the dark warrior intriguing -- and extremely sexy.
Though neither can resist the passion that blazes between them, Barak is torn between loyalties, hiding a secret gift that could prove useful to Lacey's research, at the sacrifice of his own people. But when Lacey is kidnapped and held hostage, Barak realizes he will do anything to save her . . . even risk his own life.

I enjoyed the first two books in this series and the third one didn't disappoint either. Barak is an 'Other' a being from another world which is only separated from our world by the Barrier. The Paladins are warriors who kill 'Others' who try to cross the Barrier and enter our world. Barak saves the life of one of the Paladin's lovers and he is now living, under sufference, in our world. He is a man that doesn't back down from a fight but has a very strong sense of honor and rightness. He works with Lacey, who is a vulcanologist, and who is trying to find a faster way to predict when the barrier will come down in order to give the Paladins more warning. They do not get off to a very good start when they first, but Lacey is drawn to Barak and they cannot resist the passion between them. They have to fight both ignorance, hate and a dastardly plot to be able to finally be together. I can't wait for the fourth book which introduces Barak's sister to us.
Morgan and her Paladin series can always be depended on for a good read. This one is about Barak, who came from the Other’s world, the world the Paladins have been fighting for centuries. Neither side knows what to do with him. To the Others, he’s a traitor under sentence of death, to the Paladins he’s an embarrassment, one that should have been killed except for the clemency of the lead Paladin’s human wife. Now Barak is working with Lacey Sebastian, who is researching the earthquakes that release the Others into this world, and yep, you know what’s going to happen. Still, there is an interesting greyness to this writing, the genre that often has either black or white, with blood red all over. The bad guys maybe aren’t all bad, and the good guys? Well, in Morgan’s world there are a lot of bad good guys out there.
