This book is responsible for a couple of late nights. Clock watching at lunch time and early morning starts! What's not to love about this couple Craven and Sara. She is a smart, sassy and realistic heroine and he is the handsome kicked in the gut kind of hero. This book is a wonderful sequel to "Then Came You" Alex and Lily's love story. Both are a must read! This book is one of the best books I have read so far of Lisa's work. I love the way the characters from Then Came You have been integrated into this book.
This is one of my favourite historical romances, so well written and definitely the best of Lisa Kleypas’s books.
From the very beginning the pace is fast, the characters developed so strongly you know this is going to be a great book.
Like all romances you have to like and care about the characters and Kleyas has definitely achieved this. A truly beautifully written book that is definitely worth keeping.
This is one of my top ten all time romantic reads! From the moment Sara recues Derrick by shooting one of his attackers you can't help but know she is going to be his saving grace. The heroine of the story, Sara Fielding is such a realistic and likeable character. Unlike many heroines in romantic fiction her actions never come across as too contrived. She has morals but they are never continually thrown up to thrawt possible romantic interludes. She has a heart of gold and shows real kindness to those less fortunate than herself. She is also independent and has a core of steel. Once she realises her love for Derrick Craven she accepts it and sees no reason for them not to be together. It is Derrick that feels he is not good enough for her because of his unscrupulous past and current immoral lifestyle. It is so obvious by his actions that he loves her deeply although it takes a major event to bring him to the point where he can admit his feelings.
If you want one of the best romantic books ever written then this is it.
