I agree not an indepth thinking book, but nevertheless I really enjoyed this book. It asks the age old question of why did he dump me ?, What did I do wrong?, Here I am fit, goodlooking and fabulous and witty, what more could a guy want !!. You end up getting behind Blair in the story and rooting for her. Blair's Dad is the typical male father, hurt my girl and deal with me and it is fun how he deals with his wife and three daughter's and how he gives the new man in Blair's life tips on living with females.
The plot in this novel seems a little simplistic, on top of that the first person style doesn't seem to work. It detracts from the romance elements of the book. on top of that the 'voice' of the heroine isn't that appealing. There are some lovely quirky moments that you come to expect from Linda Howard but overall I would say this isn't her best book.
This book is a little bit different from Linda Howard books as it is written in the first person. While I have never liked books written that way I have to say Linda Howard pulled it off pretty well. I have been disappointed with Lindas' recent books she has gone away from the romance and concentrated more on the suspense which is a shame. No one writes such great scences with her heros and heroines as she does. But, with this book it is more like her older work, lots of interaction with her hero and heroine. It was the Linda of old with this book.
