After the death of her husband, a mother takes her kids off to live with their grandparents in a huge, decrepit old mansion. However, the kids are kept hidden in a room just below the attic, visited only by their mother who becomes less and less concerned about them and their failing health, and more concerned about herself and the inheritence she plans to win back from her dying father, to the point of murder...

I originally read this book 20 years ago, and thougth word for word i would remember the story line, It impacted on me now, as it did 20 years ago, well worth the read, once opened I couldn't put it down until it was finished, much to my families dismay.
well worth the READ
Flowers in the attic is the most touching bok i have read in years. Its a book that makes you want to keep reading and it makes you feel like your really there with them, i felt there pain when it was described and i felt the joy they did. Its a great read and there was no faults to this book, although i find it more a teen/adult book and really the younger teens might not need to read this.
A heart breaking tale of love, death, lies and deceit.
Virginia Andrews is a great writer and this novel has to be one of her best. You find yourself gasping and frowning and shaking your head in disbelief at some of the things in this book beacuse as you read it she has you forgetting that its not real.
I first read this book when I was a teen and just loved.I couldnt believe the mother and how cold she was in choosing money over her children.I then lost all my collection of v andrews books and then had to buy all over again..I have read this book over 5 times and highly recommednt it to everyone..really enjoyed it thoroughly
This book is truly amazing. It is hard to believe that a mother's love for her children could be replaced by the love for money but Virginia Andrews shows how subtley it can occur. Bit by bit, love turned into resentment and through Andrews incredibale writing skill, murder was completely plausible. I really rate this book and everytime I read it, I pick up on something new.
Virginia Andrews out did herself when she wrote Flowers in the Attic. The themes of betrayal and romance in this novel are breathtaking, thrilling and full with major suspense. When I read this book I had to take a step back, it was a real eye-opener. I found this novel both spell-binding and disturbing, but still I read on. This novel is right up there with "The Best". I highly recommend to all mature readers.
This book from V C Andrews has always been my favourite out of all her books in all her series!
I think it is the best written of all her books and is a book that you can re-read again and again with the same intense feelings as if you were reading it for the first time!
I highly recommend this book to every V C Andrews fan of all ages!
