This is probably the most important book of the series. Penned by Eric Nylund, it details the events of John's childhood in the harsh, unforgiving SPARTAN supersoldier program, his training, his first missions, humanity's first contact with the covenant, then the final battle between the humans and covenant over Reach. This book is very helpful for expanding your knowledge of the Halo universe and the Spartan program.

The 3rd book in the Halo Novel series bridges the gap between the Halo 1 & Halo 2 games. This book picks up right after the fisrt game ends & ends as the second game begins. A great read to add storyline to games & a must for all halo fans.

Recommended for those that have played the game first, it expands upon the reason why the Master Chief and company have gathered at Halo. A lot of military and sci fi jargon, which may ward off a few people, but ultimately makes the Halo universe that much richer. Halo's already inducted into pop culture: don't be left out of the phenomenon.

Another installment from the three part series of Halo novels, based in the great Xbox games Halo I & II. You'll enjoy the Halo novels if you enjoyed the games. The novels add to the storylines of the games in a positive way. Its truly a rewarding read for fans. For those who don't know the world of halo well enough, this could be a great start.
