– Customer review on 23/01/2006 I've been growing a little weary of Star Wars expanded universe novels, mainly because they are little more than the stories of the same heroes fighting variations on the same challenges with insurmountable odds. I enjoy reading novels about the main characters, but prefer something a little less formulaic. Some of the novels of the Clone Wars era manage to successfully avoid this trap - the Medstar duology (Battle Surgeons is book 1) does this well by focusing on a surgical team based on one of the Clone War fronts (M*A*S*H in Space), supported by Jedi. As well as telling the story of the medical team, the novel touches on the humanity of the clones, showing them to be more than just biological fighting machines.
One of the co-authors, Steve Perry, also wrote "Shadows of the Empire", so has more than a passing familiarity with the Star Wars Universe.
