– Customer review on 14/10/2006 Again it seems like the theme of every Karin Slaughter book will be rape or child abuse. Although well written, and definitely strongly plotted, the gore in this book gets in the way. You find your mind returning to some of the more gruesome scenes while you should be focusing on character development. It also seems that she is obsessed with seeing how 'low' her characters can go. I'm torn with these books, they are well written but I can't help feel that I'm being manipulated as I read them. Not sure I would read this again.
