John Connolly satisfies most of your senses, he can make you sad, make you mad, make you laugh and horrify you all at the same time, and he does it in a style that I find down to earth and easy to read.

EVERY DEAD THING is no exception, for me it was taking a step back to find out what happened to Charlie Parker's wife and child to make him so damaged, now I know!

I have read almost everything that he has written and I don't have any real complaints about any of his work but, I have much praise of most of it including this book!

A detective haunted by the brutal murder of his wife and daughter and disturbing visions of the dead chases a serial killer accross America. Battling with himself the whole way. Its dark and stylishly compelling stuff that bnorrows liberally from the classic tradition of noir with a bleak contemporary twist to it.

While later John Connelly books are always good this one is by far and away the creepiest one. Tracking Charlie Parker as he attempts to not only patch together his life after his wife and child are slain in their family home but track down a vicious serial killer who seems to posess powers beyond the normal.

Not only is this creepy but the violence is well written aand shocking in the extreme. If you can cope with the sheer nastiness of the antagonist (The Travelling Man) then this is an extremely good book.
