As an adult, I found this the most entertaining childrens book I have read since I was a child myself. I never read the famous five series and wonder why. The story is very entertaining and still so full of innocence. It reminds of a time when children could roam and explore to their hearts content. Oh, if only the world was still as Enid Blyton has written it

This is the first of the Famous Five books, so it provides an introduction to the central characters: Julian, Dick and Anne, plus their cousin George and her dog Timmy. What kid hasn't wanted to have an island they see as their own or parents who'd let them row a boat out to it and camp out their with their friends? What kid doesn't want a dog like Timmy, who always does what he's told and is a constant best friend? Brilliant reading for kids of all ages.

Julian, Dick and Anne are sent to Uncle Quentin and Aunt Fanny for the holidays. They meet their cousin George (really Georgina) and her dog Timmy. Together they find a treasure map, and it is a race to find the treasure before the baddies do! A likeable book that my son loves every bit as much as I did as a child

As an avid reader from a very young age i adored all Enid Blyton's books, but especially this Famous Five series. This particular book is so good. Many children mystery writers have come up with stories of children on a island full of treasure but only Enid Blyton can deliver this formula to perfection for a young child. Definetly a must read book and series for any reader of any age!
