I have read all of Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake books and have enjoyed the majority immensely. Sadly Flirt was a disappointment in a number of ways...

To begin with it was the size of a short story but the price of a full book which left me feeling cheated both in the pocket and story departments.

Most importantly the storyline shows Laurell K Hamilton has lost her way. What began as an exciting series based around Anita Blake investigating/solving crimes/mysteries has degenerated into Anita Blake participating in various orgies for 85-90% of the book and then finally dragging herself out of bed (or should I say the office, shed, every room of the house, basements, cars, the desert...the list goes on) to actually participate in the plot in some other capacity.

We get it Laurell, Anita is a total sex fiend, now please, give us back an actual storyline.

It was a bit short for a novel about anita Blake. I did enjoy the storyline, though i wish there had of been more too it. To be honest i was just grateful to have my favorite heroin back in the game, fighting, calling up zombies and being her usual rough around the edges self and not only monopolising the man department....All though i must admit i love that part as well, it's just nice to have a bit of balance back, though i think that's were the series is heading and i'm excitedly waiting for the next novel. All this aside i'm very glade i bought the book and i wont be re-selling, i love all these books.

In this book we get to see a bit more of Anita at work and see a bit of normality in her life, before the supernatural dramatics begin. If you loved the rest of the series then this is a must read, there is a bit of everything in Flirt.
