It was a great read. My late husband, Pastor Earl Batstone, grew up in Nipper's Harbour; therefore many of the people and place names were familiar to me. Having grown up in a small community myself, it was good to read how another community worked socially and economically in years gone by. I met Ms. Sparkes during the come-home-year anniversary a few years ago. It was enjoyable to see the little town through her eyes. Well written and engaging from beginning to end. Thank you Ms Sparkes for honouring my husband at the beginning of the book.
