Frog and Toad are wonderful - just simple stories about two friends, with just enough silliness to get my three year old laughing. This collection can be used to mark the seasons, although any references to the months (ie. when they talk about the leaves falling in October) would have to changed around for the Southern Hemisphere. These are also good to use as readers.
