This is the 8th book in the very popular Sookie Stackhouse series. For any fans of the series of course this is a definite must read. A lot of my friends who have read this book feel like something is a bit off about it. Maybe it isn't as good as some of the previous Sookie Stackhouse books because there isn't a clear direction. But it's still definitely well worth the read.

The 8th installment of the Sookie Stackhouse series was as good as the previous 7. I was compelled so fast that I ended up reading the preview of the next book even though I knew it was going to ruin the start of the next book when it is released. But I couldn't stop! Although, this was the first of the books that made me quite angry with Sookie for her decisions regarding her romantic relationships. I won't give too much away but I would not have done the same thing in her situation.
It may not be classic literature, it may not be perfect and the south american access may positively seep through the pages of the book but i can't seem to tear myself away. My bookshelf has become a library as most of my friends have also fallen in love with the series.
Eric has also become a part of my day dreaming on a daily basis...
All in all, I can't fault the books, other than it's clear trashy south american romance/fantasy undertow, but we all love a good trashy story once in a while. Sometimes over and over and over again.
ENJOY!

Really great book, I had bought the box set and couldn't put it down! Was really racey and had lots of action in it. It was great to see Sookie's relationships grow with the other people in the book, I have also read the next book, this one is a great lead up to it. This book also has a few suprises that I was not expecting! I loved these books

I have really enjoyed reading the Sookie Stackhouse series. There is no comparison between these and Twilight, don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of Twilight, but the characters are so much more appealing in this series. Sookie is a strong woman whose life doesn't revolve around a man/vampire.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book!
Flipping open the cover and starting the fresh new page felt like coming home to old friends. Friends that live a fast paced life of death, passion and blood lust that is!
These books are far too addictive. My whole life is put on hold until I finish reading them.
Definitely start from the beginning though and read them all before watching the new TV series!

As much as i loved this series i found this one a little slower in some ways than the others but still definately a great read. I loved the relationships between all the characters and the fact that with each novel charlaine brings out she brings something new and exciting from each of these relationships to each book.

Book 8 in this fantastic series. Sookie faces yet more dangers, heartache, anger & frustration. Eric is determined to remember the time he spent with Sookie when the witch cast a spell over him & Sookie hopes he doesn't. Sookie is caught in a war between the Warewolf clans & also a vampire take over. She is mad at Bill for betraying her love, & missing Quinn the new love in her life.

The 8th installment of Sookie was fun to read but feels as if Harris was creating plots for future books rather than paying attention to the plot in this one. Her relationships in the town are still examined in great detail creating a wonderful picture of her daily life and would recommend it to any SOokie fan, but is not the book to start with.

This book brings closure for some narrative threads, but leaves tantalizing tidbits of romantic possibilities for you to salivate over in the next instalment - "Dead and Gone", volume 9.
Once you discover Sookie Stackhouse and her world, you'll never forget them. Especially Eric the Viking vampire - in Charlaine's words "Yikes. Yahoo. Yum."

I may be biased because I loved all the other books in this series, however I would give this 10 out of 10. It continues the story of Sookie Stackhouse and her life now surrounded by the supernatural. Adding to an already developed world. It couldnt stop reading and I have to say my boyfriend got a bit annoyed. If you love the Trueblood TV series or Twilight (movie or books) give this a go, you will not be disappointed. I only regret that I have read all the books to quickly and have to wait for the next one to be released next year. What to do til then????
