In a great green room, tucked away in bed, is a little bunny. "Goodnight room, goodnight moon." And to all the familiar things in the softly lit room, to the picture of the three little bears sitting in chairs, to the clocks and his socks, to the mittens and the kittens, to everything one by one he says goodnight.
In this classic of modern children's literature, beloved by generations of readers and listeners, the quiet poetry of the words and the gentle, lulling illustrations combine to make a perfect book for the end of the day.

My kids and I loved reading this book. We discussed the colourful drawings and it inspired my son to draw the picture frame with the cow jumping over the moon. It helped my speech delayed daughter as the repetition of saying goodnight works well for her. As simple as it is, it names objects and colour for the kids which is very important to developing understanding and vocabulary. So much so that my 20 month old locates the things mentioned in the book around our house and all three kids look for the moon in the sky at night.
This was my favourite bedtime book as a child and my 2 yr old girls fight to get it from the bookshelf. They know all the words and recite them often, even when they are not reading the book. I highly recommend this book.
My 18month old daugther absolutely loves this book. Great pictures. She loves hunting for the little white mouse. And she can name all the objects in the book. Absolutely brilliant. I do think the effect of this book is as you make it. It is a great learning tool. My daughter chose this book every night for a whole week.
Just a beautiful bedtime book for the little ones!
The wording is calming to read and helps to set the right mood for sleep; it enters easily into a bedtime routine for even the youngest children - my son is two and says goodnight along with me as we read it.
One of my long time favourites that I am now love reading to my children.
I love this classic and so do my boys. They choose it regularly as a night time read before bed. Pictures are so sweet. There really doesn't need to be a story as it is so simple for young ones to understand and remember. A good one to help them with reading
After reading the reviews currently available on the fishpond website I just had to have my say. I recently found a secondhand copy of this book at a school fete and paid 50c! It is a classic in my opinion and it had been passed over all day. I was so excited because I fondly recall this book from my early childhood. Now I read it to my young son and he can't get enough of it. There is a magical quality to it which is hard to explain I guess. It's gorgeous.
I didn't much like this one. It was a little slow for my children and didn't really seem to have a point to it. I have heard it highly praised though, which is why I bought it so maybe it was just me. The illustrations are nice and bright though, so if it's not your cup of tea you could always use it as a colour learning tool!
This books is raved over in the USA and I just don't get it. Very little story, tiny words so that my daughter would have no hope of reading it as a beginner reader... I read it to her when I need something quick before bed and if read slowly it is slightly soothing but I honestly don't see what all the fuss is about.
this book is well writeen but you really have to be into this style of writing to enjoy it... worth being read at least once , bargan price, seen in bookshops much higher price, over ok read would give it 2 out of five stars.. If you dont like it you could always use as birdcage liner lol....
