The classic book on European military archery is back in print! It's an indispensible book on the topic, so it's good to see that it's available again. It's a large format book, and well-illustrated. The English longbow has a central place, but other aspects of European military archery are considered, for example, with discussion of crossbows and the Asian composite bow appearing. Discusses the history - what is known from literature and archaeology - and technology, including examination of artifacts and testing of replicas ("experimental archaeology"). There are other books on European military archery, but they tend to be more partisan, narrower in coverage, shorter, and less accurate. If you want one book on the topic, this is it. If you want more than one, this one should be the core of the group. Superb book, and excellent value. This book is highly-praised in a multitude of reviews, and is highly deserving of such praise.
