About the Author
Dr Russ Harris was born in Liverpool, England. After graduating in medicine from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, he emigrated to Australia. As a family doctor, he became increasingly interested in the psychological aspects of medical illness (and increasingly less interested in writing prescriptions). In his eclectic career, he has been a stand-up comedian, sex therapist, filmmaker, novelist, and workshop presenter. He now practices as a psychological health physician in Melbourne.

This book is based on the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT gets it name from one of its core messages: accept what is out of your personal control, and commit to action that improves and enriches your life. The aim of ACT is to help people create a rich full and meaningful life, while effectively handling the pain and stress that life inevitably brings. Accessibale, well written, avoid the traps that many otehr books about creating happiness fall into. Highly recommended.
This is another CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) or ACT (acceptance or commitment Therapy) book and is a worthwhile read although it's not as light as some other books available. I've read many other books on the same topic and they all give similar info although explained in a slightly different way. They're all worthwhile to reinforce the main points and some styles suit some people better than others. Definately worth reading.
This is a really worthwhile book, that takes a deeper look at happiness, positive psychology and mindfulness practices. The strategies are practical and simply written. I think most people could benefit from reading this book and applying its principles. A lot of it is commonsense but it is commonsense that we need to be reminded of when we are caught up in the things causing us stress or grief.
