– Customer review on 09/09/2007 This is a charming book, and beautifully written. Even though it was first published in 1964, it is still relevant today. A must for those who wish to achieve more in society than a nice wardrobe and a pair of Loboutin's! Still very European in style, and perhaps some tips are a little outdated.
However, such is the power of Madame Dariaux's word, as soon as the first page was turned, I began to sit up straight, and instantly reassessed my wardrobe.
The main theme is that elegance can not be bought, but you must try to buy the best you can afford, 'investment pieces', as Ms Dariaux refers to them.
This book reminds me of My Fair Lady, and gives an inside glimpse into the world of the well-bred Society set.
As society icons in these times consist of Paris Hilton, and Nicole Richie, I think every young girl should read this and have something to aspire to other than striking a pose!
