About the Author

Margaret Docherty, who was born in Hartlepool, England, learned to sew as a child. She became interested in quilting in the late 1980s and was greatly influenced by the work and writing of American quilters. Her main interest is in traditional hand applique, but she has experimented with most techniques and styles. She makes time to quilt from her busy schedule as a pediatrician by sewing mostly at night - a legacy from her days as a junior hospital doctor.

Reviews

Margaret Docherty has to be one of the finest quilters around, and certainly one of the most organized and disciplined. This book is no exception. The information is complete, the pictures delightful, and her humor is evident. It is a less complex quilt than Little Brown Bird, not as deeply artistic, but for those who enjoy tulips and the Pennsylvania Dutch "look", you couldn't do better than this beautiful selection. Patterns are full sized, and instuctions are very explicit...-Michele Barnes
