It's difficult to know how to rate this book overall. There are significant positives and major downfalls. On the plus side, this book is exhaustive in its presentation of the case for a traditional understanding of hell as eternal torment from a conservative contemporary evangelical perspective. If you want to know all the arguments for that view, they are here. So as an educational tool, it is good in that regard. But the down side is rather unbearable at times. The writer is seriously biased, he does not portray the views he rejects sympathetically at all, he sometimes misrepresents the views he rejects, and he simply doesn't give adequate credit to the arguments against his own view. So the book is good if you want to understand the traditional evangelical position, but not good at all if you want serious critical engagement between opposing views.
