5 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 29/03/2010

I literally have never been so moved by a book before. Set in Mississippi in the 1960's, this story follows three women's lives, in their fight to show America the way coloured maids have such an impact on the lives of all those around them. Even though I grew up in a different time, a different country and leading a very different life, Kathryn Stockett has so cleverly portrayed her characters that I found myself lauging with them, crying with them, feeling rage with them. This is a beautiful, horrifying and heart-warming book, I feel very blessed to have stumbled across it and hope to see more from this wonderful author.

4 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 08/02/2012

This was a sweet book. There are no new revelations about life in the deep south in the 60s, but it is well written and a great holiday read. I can't say it will go down in history as a 'must read' book, but it was still a page turner and I have recommended it to other people.
