We really enjoy this series. The lives of numerous different missionaries from around the world are looked at. It also highlights particular character strengths they needed to display to achieve what they did. (eg courage, discernment, faith etc). At the end of each chapter there are two or three questions to discuss. A great read aloud, but older kids would enjoy reading it by themselves too.
