About the Author

Michelle Markel loves writing narrative nonfiction. She's the author of Brave Girl, which won the Bank Street Flora Stieglitz Straus Award and the Jane Addams Children's Book Award for Younger Children, and was also chosen as an NCTE Orbis Pictus Honor Book. Some of her recent titles include Hillary Rodham Clinton: Some Girls Are Born to Lead (on the Amelia Bloomer Project List of feminist literature) and Balderdash!: John Newbery and the Boisterous Birth of Children's Books. LeUyen Pham has voted in every single presidential election since she turned eighteen. She is the author and illustrator of A Piece of Cake, All the Things I Love About You, and Big Sister, Little Sister. She has illustrated many other picture books, including the New York Times bestsellers Grace for President by Kelly DiPucchio and Freckleface Strawberry by Julianne Moore.
