– Customer review on 12/01/2008 An excellent book to have if you're looking for a one volume coverage of WWI. Stevenson covers not just the battlefield happenings and political manoeuvres, but also the economic situations of each combatant, the moods at home, and changes in each countries circumstances throughout the war. Occasionally gets a little too bogged down in the minutiae of the combatants economies just when you'd like to know what is happening back on the battlefield, but in terms of providing giving good context and an all-round view of events, it succeeds wonderfully.
