– Customer review on 12/04/2006 A gripping story, ably told by someone who was on top of Everest when bad weather and unfortunate timing combined to kill eight mountaineers. Krakauer is a good writer and he holds the readers interest throughout. Unfortunately, as a result of this book being published, Anatoli Boukreev was unfairly castigated for the role he played on the mountain that day. Krakauer seems to ignore the three lives Boukreev saved. Certainly worth a read though, in conjunction with Boukreev's book 'The Climb'
