– Customer review on 19/08/2005 This is an excellent book, interesting and quite easy to read. I only realised exactly how Eurocentric and Christian my education so far had been when I finished this book. The other problem that brought that fact home to me was trying to get good maps of the Islamic world from the year 632CE/AD on and failing. I have a historical atlas, but most maps are of Europe and a few of Asia. There are precious few books and atlases published in English that take either Judaism or Islam as their starting point and as the mainstream, not as a sideline or as something secondary to Christian European history.
