This is a great book to get you started with printing. The author presents various techniques in this book which are:

- stamping with custom rubber stamps
- stamping with foam stamps
- stamping with carved rubber block stamps
- stencilling with freezer paper
- stencilling with contact paper
- stencilling with mylar stencils
- screen printing with paper stencils
- screen printing with drawing fluid and screen filler stencils
- screen printing with photographic emulsion stencils

I must say that I found (all) the projects to be very appealing and inspiring. You will stamp and print on paper, fabric and walls, using different paints and techniques. All techniques are explained in great detail, clear colour photos demonstrating all steps are also included. The author gives useful tips on how to avoid common mistakes made by beginners.

The book includes tables as guides for choosing the proper printing method, optimal artwork and surfaces as well as choosing the right ink or paint for each project. I found that information to be very useful as it points the beginner into the right direction.

The only downside of this book is that the author fails to explain on how to burn an image onto a silk screen. She recommends to charge a professional with burning the screen. Still, as this book is meant as an introduction for the beginner into printing, it accomplishes its goal without explaining how to burn a screen.

I highly recommend this book for anybody who wants to dive into printing - especially on fabric. It gives a clear view over all possibilities available for the home printer. The fabrics you see on the cover are those you are going to print in the projects plus a project for stationery (paper), a travel pouches (fabric), notebooks (paper), a t-shirt (fabric), a chair cushion (fabric), a dresser (wood), a lampshade (fabric), a wall, a dog's bed (fabric), an artwork to frame (paper) and an apron (fabric).

I have read much of this book, but haven't tried any of the projects yet - only because the book only arrived a couple of days ago. It has clear, simple instructions and lots of illustrations. There are pattern sheets so that you can use the author's designs to complete your own projects - knowing that you'll produce something that looks great, which is good for a first go, or else you can use your own designs. There is a good variety of project to complete, and information on different materials (paints and inks, fabrics, etc) and methods, including a couple of tables comparing methods and inks. I am very pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend it for someone starting out with printing because of the simple instructions, or who has done a little printing before but would like new inspiration. I have done a bit of fabric printing before but have still found new ideas in this book.

Great book. I have found this book to be not only well written but also very informative. I have never done any hand printing before and bought this book as a reference. My choice has turned out to be a good one as i am now not only printing but having a ball doing it. I would buy this book again if needed.

Gorgeous book! I love it, beautiful images, nicely bound. I haven't tried any of the projects yet but it looks very easy to follow and has a good variety of printing methods to try.

This book is gorgeous. The projects look do-able and useful. The pictures are lovely and the instructions clear. I love that it covers so many different techniques and mediums. I can't wait to get printing!

This is a beautiful book and I only wish it was around 7 years ago when I was looking for information on printing on fabric (back in those pre-kids days when I had lots of time to dabble). The techniques are well explained and simple so you can start right away...and the ideas are great! It also goes into more complex techniques and I think it is a great introduction to fabric printing as a whole.

I love this book...it has excellent projects that are easy to follow. My husband has just purchased me my first silk screen kit to get me started.
