Pam Sussman gives details instructions on how to make books and journals from fabric. She give step by step instructions on eight different types of books to make (eg muslin journal, button-bound book, coptic-bound journal), with instructions on embellishments like tea-dyeing, painting, image transfers, applique, buttons, beads, trims, etc. The last 22 pages are a gallery of all sorts of books and journals. While this book is mostly for the experience, there are projects which are suitable for the keen beginner.

This is a book for either fabric or textile artists or keen sewers. It is packed with information and projects but unless you belong in either of those categories it may well be a bit too daunting. It is well presented, nicely illustrated and some of the projects are striking, but its really only for the very keen.
