A great introduction to barefoot etc. as the area is fraught with dissent and differences of opinion, it is a good idea to look at more than one trimmer, and buy more than one book. That said, this is definately a good one- but professional advice etc still needs to be had before you start working away on your horse's hooves- if you can find a good barefoot trimmer! This book is great, even for people with shod horses. You can never learn too much.

A brilliant book that introduces the concepts of bare foot trimming based on the "Wild Horse" model. It gives a great description of how hoof mechanism works, with many photographs of wild hooves (some dissected) to illustrate the text. Its a great introductory book for horse owners wanting to trim their own horses feet, with a chapter specifically on hoof trimming technique. It also covers all other aspects of horse management that contribute to maintaining your horse's feet in optimum condition.

If you are interested in barefoot trimming - this is an essential!

Jaime is one of the great teachers of barefoot and this book has a wealth of knowledge. Covering all aspects from the horse anatomy to tools to setting yourself up as a trimmer, it is all here. There are numerous photos, and although black and white they do show the wide range of hoof shapes and trimming techniques.
