I personally thought Christine Freehans work was the most notable...the others were just mediocre. It involved Riordan, one of the De La Cruz brothers, discovering his lifemate who also is part of the Jaguar species. Together they are quite explosive, and Juliette holds her own against Riordans chauvinist ideals. Great, but short, story.
The other stories in this book ranged from good to bad. Angela Knight's rendition of the Knights of the Round Table sounds farfetched but it was grounded and people could really relate to the characters. It was a great read though not exactly my taste. Maggie Shayne wrote an interesting story about a werewolf, but I felt that it lacked any real excitement - it was sweet but boring.
Emma Holly's vampire read was the worst in my opinion. It just was too superficial for me to enjoy. I don't regret getting this book because Freehan and Angela Knight's parts made it worth it.

Loved this book. Would recommend it for the Angela Knight story alone. They are always so short when in an anthology form.

This book has 4 stories from established authors.
The first "Deep Hunger" continues in the familiar Carpathian vein. An animal activist liberates animals from a secret laboratory and also finds a man in chains who she frees with very interesting results. His need for her becomes her need for her. Well written.
Next is :Awaiting Moonrise". A science professor is trying to prove the existence of a new species which history calls werewolves and she certainly doesn't expect to fall in love with one. A good read.
Third is "The Night Owl". A lovely old hotel is bought by a rich Frenchman who is only seen at night and attached to it is a delectable bakery. But the Frenchman lusts not only after the sweet desserts but their creator. A good read.
Last is "Seduction's Gift". this story has an Arthurian history. It starts with policewoman, Grace, granddaughter to THE Morgana, pulling over a speeder in a Jaguar who turns out to be the imortal Lancelot who has been sent to get her. A good read.
I hadn't read anyor little of the authors books but his anthology has wetted my appetite for more.

Feehan's offering I believe was not up to her usual standard, so instead of making you go WOW! this novel instead made me feel satisfied, if not especially thrilled. That being said it is a Carpathian novel and nessary to fully understand the new Carpathian family she is beginning to write about.
Shayne gave us an interesting piece about a werewolf in the steamy bayous of south USA and the scientist who is trying to prove that werewolfs exist. An interesting tale which, while not quite as good as here vampires is a satisfactory contribution to this collection.
Holly gives us here vampire/shapeshifter characters again in her enthralling contribution to the anthology. Personally I have never read one of her stories before and after this story I will definitely be going off to find the other books in this series.
Knight's offering would have to be my favourite in this book. Her original take on the Arthurian legend has Arthur and his knights as immortal vampires and the ladies of Avalon as immortal witches, all of whom are dedicated to protecting humans from themselves. It proves to be a fun rolicing adventure with love sceens that all but burn up the pages.
