A testament to Richard Matheson's genius, the writer that made the twilight zone famous. Sort of. The book is written from the perspective of seemingly the last person in the world, left to figure out how defend his home from society turned ghoulish. The last man versus a world of vampires, a fun attempt at role reversal, a good read for zombie fans.

A man, perhaps the last human alive, has to fight off otherworldly-plague created vampires by day, and try and hide and survive during the night.

Alone in his quest, and dealing in gore and violence in large amounts, every day, does not do wonders for his mental health, needless to say.

Initially filmed in 1964 starring Vincent Price called "The Last Man on Earth"... Then in 1971 as " The Omega Man" starring Charlton Heston... Soon to be made into a film starring Will Smith (2007)... a fascinating, disturbing, chilling tale of the last human being on a planet where people have been turned into vampires by a germ spread via dust storms in a post war period...a great read...
