Not so very long ago, Eragon--Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider--was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders. Long months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must confront Galbatorix. When they do, they will have to be strong enough to defeat him. And if they cannot, no one can. There will be no second chances. The Rider and his dragon have come further than anyone dared to hope. But can they topple the evil king and restore justice to Alagaesia? And if so, at what cost? This is the much-anticipated, astonishing conclusion to the worldwide bestselling Inheritance cycle.

I'm 14 and I'm not even a guy yet I love the series. I began reading them when I was still in primary school and I've waited a few years but the book has finally come! I had to buy it!
I read the "Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy when I was 12 (love) so going onto this was much simpler. This series is sort of like the lord of the rings for nowadays kids, but still the age range is certainly not 5-9! Good to see they changed it to 11-14! My younger cousin is 11 but he still struggles with the series so really it depends on how advance the reader is, not on the age.
one more thing DO NOT SEE THE MOVIE. oh gawsh. terrible. I though the movie would be filmed like the LOTR but it was filmed more for 8 year olds, shocking movie did not capture the amazing amazing book at all. Characters all wrong, Saphira all wrong, entirely just off the book. So please do not see the movie it will just ruin those amazing memories of the book.
I bought it on here when it was only $23.34 and it was hard cover! Amazing price. Amazing series. Amazing buy.
Thoroughly disappointed with the book - so many loose ends and unanswered questions. And an utterly dreadful ending. After the first three books build-up, book 4 has been a complete let-down and even worse, it got boring. A dissappointing conclusion to an amazing storyline.
I agree with a number of other comments I think you would struggle to find many 5-9 year olds who would be able to cope with this. My son has been waiting for this book for over a year. He started reading them when he was 10 and is now 13 and they are still a firm favourite.
I cannot agree with the recommendation of the age for the Inheritance series as 5 - 9 years. It should be more like school level year 5 through to adult. I am a primary school teacher and both my 17yr old son and I love the series and cannot wait for "Inheritance".
This book is extremly awesome. It is also written by an extreme awesome author. This book takes you to a journey far away. You will be keep sitting on your chair and when the book ends you will wanting to read it again. I highly recommend this book to all of you. It is one awesome book. Enjoyjcdyibfh
