Remember the excitement of choosing your birthday cake as a child - weeks of anxiously poring over "The Australian Women's Weekly", "Childrens Birthday Cake Book"...would it be the train? the butterfly? the pirate? "Kids' Birthday Cakes" is a new birthday cake book for the generation that grew up with that first classic book. It features spectacular new designs and, as always, each recipe is simple and easy.
I love the Australian Women's Weekly books. This is no exception. The children's birthday cakes in this book are gorgeous and even some one with my very poor cooking skills can follow these instructions. I have made several of the cakes in this book and received compliments. There are many great ideas for both boys and girls, so no one is left out.
This is a fantastic book. The instructions are simple and concise, with some tasty, easy recipes if you don't want to use a packet mix. You can choose a cake that only takes a little while to decorate or one that requires more time. The kids are always excited to choose their birthday cake. I made the cover cake for my daughter's first birthday and it got a lot of compliments. A birthday is a special occasion and why not make a special cake?
