About the Author

Katharina Meng studierte Germanistik, Slawistik und Erwachsenenbildung, war nach Promotion und Habilitation Leiterin der Forschungsgruppe "Kinderkommunikation" am Zentralinstitut für Sprachwissenschaft der Akademie der Wissenschaften der DDR. Sie übersetzte eine Reihe von sprachpsychologischen und sprachwissenschaftlichen Arbeiten aus dem Russischen. Nach der Auflösung der Akademie arbeitete sie ab 1992 am Institut für Deutsche Sprache (IDS) in Mannheim, war Leiterin des Projekts "Sprachliche Integration von Aussiedlern" und Professorin an der Universität Mannheim.
