Reviews
New York City law officers have more technological weapons at their disposal in bestseller Robb's snappy near-future series, but so do criminals, including the sadistic rapist killer who strikes down Deena MacMasters, the 16-year-old daughter of police captain Jonah MacMasters, in the 30th full-length novel to feature homicide detective Lt. Eve Dallas (after Promises in Death). MacMasters specifically asks that Dallas, who has a knack for clever insights and deductions, lead the investigation into his daughter's murder. An impressive team of professionals-augmented by Dallas's husband, Roarke, and his young protege, Jaime Lingstrom-begins the arduous task of collecting and analyzing data. Clues suggest Deena may not be the only victim targeted by her killer and increase the pressure on Dallas and her cohorts. Robb (aka Nora Roberts) combines sex, horrific crime, forensics and technological wizardry for another winner sure to please her many fans. (Nov.) Copyright 2009 Reed Business Information.

As usual there is a good mix of Eve and Roarke, the intrigue storyline and the secondary characters with the added bonus of a wedding this time. A good read with some twists although it does seem to be solved very quickly at the end. Well worth a read.

Guilty Pleasure
If you are like me and think you're all literature'd up, but really, just like a good story, you may or may not like the JD Robb Series. Personally, I'm addicted, I have bought every one of them, and have read most of them several times. you know what you are getting, you (or I at least) can very rarely guess the bad guy, and they are written from a fun perspective. The fun comes because they are a light murder-mystery set in the year 2060. I love JD Robb's vision of the future, although how we get there is of course scary.
Nora Roberts, who writes the In Death Series under the name JD Robb, is prolific, and the In Death Series, whilst a departure from her normal style, doesn't disappoint her readers.
The latest book in the line up - Kindred in Death - deals with the mystery of a cop's daughter who is murdered in her own home. The subject matter can be a bit confrontational, but the solution is always unique and the characters all clearly have to deal with the subjects of family, murder, rape, and; more often than usual in this one - weddings.
I hope this helps; you don't need to read the In death books in order, but if your obsessive like me, you'll want to anyway, so you may as well.
