There's a huge place in my heart for this little world-in-a-book; I read it first when I was wee, again many times since. A review won't do it justice, so I'll quote one of my favorite passages and risk sentimentality:

Hi there
We would love to complete this however we havn't recieved this book or two others that we have purchased over a month and a 1/2 ago. We also would like to know how we can contact someone as there don't seem to be any contact details available. If you could let us know we would be very grateful.

I can't comment on the difference between the English and French versions (having not read the French), but I enjoyed this book. It's a simple, eloquent story with two layers: the surface, which is a pleasant and possibly macabre tale about a young prince from outer space, and the second layer: an allegory about life itself, the author making several almost self-evident, yet often forgotten profund and idealistic points about human nature.

as much as i love this book i have to say that it is a disgrace to the original version,so many parts of this book have changed over the century it's just not funny anymore, the french version is way better even though its in a different labguage but still the same storyline
