All time favourite book: Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. The cattle drive from Texas to Montana is rife with renegade indians, sad whores, young cowboys, ex-Texas Rangers & treacherous outlaws. Brilliantly written with humour & attention to detail. The characters are diverse & beautifully developed. I want to cheer for the good guys & string up the bad guys myself. The land becomes another character – dangerous & unrelenting. A Pulitzer Prize winner for a good reason.

The book Lonesome Dove, was not for my personal reading but for a friend. I thought the book was in lovely condition and was delivered in a protective packaging.
My friend was a little disappointed inasmuch that the paper was inferior to what she expected. She has 3 other books in this range and the paper is different.

This sprawling novel covers love, tragedy, fear and adventure, through the heart of the West as the team drive their cattle north to new lands. An epic tale of lives interwoven through the long, hard struggle to get the cattle and the team safely through Indian lands. The ending however I found fell totally flat, leaving me wondering what was the point of all the team endured. Admittedly this book is part of a series and as such, should probably be read thus, however as a book on it's own, the end does feel like a let-down. That aside, this book is well worth a read.

I've always enjkoyed a good western novel and this tale about a cattle drive was both emotional and interesting. It's a very well-written novel that will draw you in. While some parts tend to get a little boring, there is something for everyone in this novel and the plot will keep you guessing right until the end. Very nice!

Lonesome Dove is a very inspirational book. I liked the laid back writing style in which this book was written. There is moments here for everyone, very emotional. I can see alot of effort went into this one. I borrowed it from the library not too long ago, I reccomend you do the same, or buy it.
