A 'must read' for all dog owners! I identified with many of the situations Grogan wrote about with Marley, as I too have a slightly crazed lab (and a lovable but dumb golden) - I laughed and I cried. Upon finishing the book, I gave my two aged dogs an extra special hug! The take away from this story is to live & love with gusto and enjoy the now. It doesn't hurt to be reminded of these lessons occasionally.

Being an animal lover, I thought I would really like this book. I am astounded as to how this book is a best seller. Although some parts are moving, it's basically a chronicle of what happens when two clueless people adopt a dog. I cringed at least once per chapter not only because of the author and his wife's stupidity, but as a result of the poor writing and unamusing attempts at cleverness. I would not recommend this book to anyone, unless I thought them a bit dim.

I have never laughed out loud with a book before nor have I cried so much. What a lovely story and exceptionally well written. 100 times better than the movie!

What a fantastic read! As an owner of many dogs over the years I could really relate to the trials and tribulations of caring for a lovable but exasperating dog! The tears and laughter were not only for Marley but for everyone of my precious doggy friends!Definitely a book to recommend to other animal lover or carer.

After watching the movie it was necessary to read the book.The book gave a greater insight to the fun and sorrow enjoyed by owning a boisterous dog. I laughed during most of the book and then found tears welling at the end.
A thoroughly enjoyable read.

I saw the movie and cried and the lady sitting next to me told me to read the book. I cried for the last three chapters and laughed through the rest of it!!!! Excellent book.

This book is such a beautiful story that brought me to tears. Never has a book made me cry. Even though Marley does everything bad a dog could do, you cant help but fall in love with him through this touching book. I would recommend this book to everyone who loves animals, enjoys a comedy or longs for a tragic tale.
