This is a fantastic text and must have for the student of professional herbal medicine. This book should be bought as soon as possible in the student's education as it the most comprehensive and infomative text for a student I have yet come across. There's a little philosophy, a little pharmacognosy, a bit of botany, a lot of phytochemistry and pharmacology, a chapter on safety, another on formulating and preparing medicines, and treatment using actions and the body systems. There is a great chapter on the actions including body system affinities, strength of herbs and secondary actions, which enables the student to begin to develop the art of choosing the most appropriate herbs. And of course there is a materia medica, which is quite precise on the herb's main uses. Highly recommended.
