this is an excellent book for aspiring home cooks as it imparts with decades of product knowledge. it's rare to find a cooking book that isn't aimed at the typical bored housewife but this is one of them. the beautiful pictures combined with the wonderfully interactive and humourous tales of origin set this book far above the rest. with more television series in the works this is definitely a book you want to invest in.
Great book. Love the clean, crisp photography and recipes. DH books are always straight forward, no fluff, regular ingredients making spectacular dishes. There are modern twists but she stays true to many dishes, nothing too out-there. There are 'How To' pages which give details of a classic dish and technique, from there you can make you own variations. I enjoy cooking from this book and dreaming from it. Photographs of all dishes help, lots of light, lovely recipes with nothing too stodgy.
If you have Donna Hay's Classics 1 then you will want Classics 2. This book will have your tastebuds asking for more. If you are chocoholic you will want this book. Add this book to your Christmas wishlist. Congratulations Donna Hay on another successful cookbook.
This book is a MUST for every dessert/sweets loving person. In this book, Donna Hay (Australian food guru) provides recipes to making desserts, cakes, slices and biscuits. YUM!
I have found that this is a great book for flicking through to get ideas when friends are coming over and I want something a little bit special (especially given the large amount of chocolate required for a number of the recipes)! I can personally recommend both the chocolate cheesecake brownie and flourless chocolate cakes – both are divine and have been very popular with friends
