As a newbie in the realm of mosaics I found this an excellent beginning book for the mosaics of the minutiae. This style of mosaics involves great patience and being an adept at tweezers work. Laurel Skye clearly suggests a selection of tools, adhesives, and tiles. She also provides a collection of projects and lays them out in an easy to follow fashion. Having said this, she does not dictate what tile or colour to use; this is up to you.
The first project I completed was an Embellished Mirror. A beautiful and intricate piece.
This style of mosaics uses lots of glass tiles and introduces the reader to the wonder of millefiori.
Just like making a good painting it is important to have an extensive palette, in this work a varied palette is also important.
I recommend this book for the patient mosaicist.
