Whether you're a student of religion or whether you're just interested in finding out a little more about various religions, this is an excellent reference work to start with. The first part covers the many living religions from the main players to lesser known faiths, and also looks at the faiths of various regions of the world. Part 2 looks at issues of faith, like religious diaspora, the role of gender etc. Very informative and interesting, and well written. Good to read cover to cover or just the chapters that interest you.
