This book could be your salvation! A quote from the "Daily Telegraph", but this cry could equally have come from the thousands of mothers who have put Gina Ford's kind but firm routines into practice and put some calm back into their lives. Sleep-starved nights, inconsolable crying, feeding on demand - stories that make the prospect of bringing a tiny baby home for the first time daunting for any proud new parent. Fully updated and with helpful input from clients, readers and mothers who simply love her routines, "The New Contented Little Baby Book" gives reassuring and practical advice to new parents that works from one of the UK's most respected and most talked about maternity nurses. Her secret is simple and amazing - a strategy developed through years of research and experience. When put into practice, 'Gina babies': sleep through the night from an early age; feed regularly and well from either breast or bottle; and are less likely to suffer from colic. And parents are calm and contented too! |

This book has been a real gem. My friend is a Nanny and she sent this book to me she looks after two children one who is 3 months and the other is 18 months and they both go to bed at 7pm and get up at 7am. For me I really wanted something to make my life a little easier as my oldest was only 14 months and I was going to be busy enough. The great thing with Gina Fords routines is I know what time my little one will be feeding, playing or sleeping and I can arrange so many things around that, it also ensures my little one isn't getting overfed, over stimulated and encourages more wakeful times during the day to allow more sleep at night.
I am a raving fan there is nothing I bad at all I could say about this because at the end of the day children need to fit into our lives not us fit into thiers and this book gets you there faster.

You'll either love it or hate it! I loved it...but you need to be looking for a routine that works and be completely commited to following it. If you do follow it, its the answer to all your prayers!

Brilliant.....hands together for Gina Ford. I used this book for both my children (age 2.5yrs & 10 weeks) and have a happy, calm household. My toddler still enjoys his sleep and hopefully my baby will continue to do so. Gina's website is wonderful too...Don't be afraid to give it a go.

The ideas seem good in theory but in practise i just had a sad baby and a sad mamma. Most of what Gina Ford advocates went against my instict as a mother. From memory Gina does not have children and it is evident by what she advocates

Useful but VERY STRUCTURED....I read this book before I had my baby and was totally sold on the idea. But once my baby was born - I learnt it was too structured and stressful trying to follow her every piece of advice. So like lots of these books...I have taken the useful points, that work for me and skipped the rest. This book is definitely worth a read if you have a child with sleeping issues but I have found that mine is more layed back and sleeps through the night where ever he is placed. This might not be the case for the second baby so I shall definitely keep this book close at hand!

This is the best baby book and the one I would save in a fire! I only found this book when I was pregnant with my 2nd child and my eldest child was still sleeping in our bed most of the night, not going to bed before 10pm, not having any naps during the day, tired, cranky and whingy all day...
Enter Gina Ford. Being a little sceptical to begin with, I was definitely convinced of the value of routines by the difference in sleeping patterns and general happiness of my 2nd baby. She first slept through the night 7pm-7am at 14 weeks of age and at age 1 sleeps very well and is a happy contented little baby.

A very good book. Nice written, nice to read, you won't think it's too long or anything like this because it has really got nice story and information pressed into a nice short book with a lot of good information which are really useful.
I really liked reading this book and you will most likely enjoy it as well

I can highly recommend this book for new parents who like a bit of structure to their days .....and nights! Although i feel that Gina Ford has unrealistic expressing expectations (this is the one point that shows shes a nanny and not a mother) her routines work amazingly and i had 2 contented little babies thanks to her. It works so give it a go!

This is more like a manuel of how to bring up your baby. It offers a structured routine - which sounds rediculous - but actually works. It takes you through each age of the baby and when they should be sleeping/awake/playing/bathing etc. It is very pedantic, and not everyone will have the lifestyle that this will work with, but if you are having trouble it is definatly worth a shot.

This book is extremely useful for parents with new babies, particularly if they are having problems settling into routines. I bought this for my sister who has just had a baby and she says has helped her heaps! her little ones sleeping habits pay tribute to that fact. Great tips written in a very readable format. This is a must have and at this great price you will love it for sure
