A collection of mantras and proverbs ('Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer', etc.) written about war that can just as easily be applied to aspects of everyday society. This edition is one of the better translations I've read. All in all, still a very important tome that contains many words to live by.
a great cultivation of a war for dummies manual all the ancient sayings are verying interesting and can be put to use in most of our modern society as long as an open mind is kept during reading.
Just like it's larger cousin, this book is beautifully presented & accurately translated, one might consider this book a 'Pocket dictionary' of the traditional art of war, Very handy to have as it will easily and comfortably fit into a pocket, great for those who don't want to lug around the hefty full size book!!
This little book is awesome I love it a lot, it's full of lots of very wise proverbs however I was a little disappointed that this translation delibarately left out the parts of the original scripts which were specific to the military, because if I had wanted a whole lot of all-purpose sayings I would have bought a self-help book!! But still, awesome. 5 Stars
An amazing book on the philosophy of war. If you live life in a competitive environment whether that be in sport, martial arts, or business, this book holds a lot of appicable wisdom.
I used to be a person of competitive nature as such until I read this book and by showing me the similicity of a competitive conflict, it helped me to see things in a different light.
Sun Tzu's, The Art of War, details the requisites for those who would wish to be successful in times of conflict. Matters such as when and where to fight; the cost to the state in coin and manpower; the handling of troops, etc., are all considered. And all in less than ten-thousand words."

well for this price its very hard to not pick this up. this book is referenced in so many movies and other books that it seems almost like a prerequistie read like the prince. has some great words wo wisdom in here although since it has been around for so long its almost redundant since most of them are already immersed in society now, still a great book though.
