I thought the orignal 1982 edition was brilliant, so to get the new and improved revised ecition is just great. This work draws on the latest evangelical scholarship, but also addresses theological issues and hard questions, e.g. for the book of Joshua, we read a discussion on "Did Joshua make the sun stand still?" followed by three key theological insights: (1) the promise-keeping God; (2) The covenantal idea; (3) the achievement of rest. A superb resource.
There is also great background on the historical setting of each book. The sections on psalms and wisdom literature are excellent. I found this an invaluable resource when studying the Minor Prophets also. Highly reccomended.
