One of the best princess stories ever told, Elizabeth turns the princess stereotype on its head, empowering young girls to be true to themselves.--Elizabeth Shaffer"BC Parent" (10/01/2005)
I remember reading this book as a little girl and my daughters love it to. It's a princess story but with a edge to it that shows girls that they can think for themselves and be independent not having to wait for a prince charming to come and rescue them. It's light hearted and I love the ending.
Love it! It is nice to see a princess story finish up with a nice twist ie not a 'disneyfied' true love ending. More early feminist literature that every girl needs to be exposed to!
This is a great book to let little girls know that they can be self-determined. Wonderful illustrations coupled with an easy to follow story makes for a timeless fairytale. Perfect time to buy with all this William and Kate carry-on.
This is an awesome book! I've had this one for over 20 years and it's all about girl power! Not the Spice Girl sense, but in the every girl can be strong and do their own thing kind of girl power. Great illustrations, got all the important bits (the princess, the prince, the dragon) and a nice simple story. Highly recommended for any little girl. Easy to read, or easy to follow with a bit of help.
This one of the all time greats, it is a fairy tale only it is a modern verson, remember reading i at primary school and really really enjoying it, it deffintly rates up there with the boks like 'the little yellow digger'. All childern and hey probly at of people will enjoy this book. Go the paper bag princess
This modern fairy-tale from profilic Canadian author, Robert Munsch, is a perennial favourite which gives delight even on the umpteenth reading. Munsch has a gift for telling an extraordinary story in down-to-earth words, and in Elizabeth he has created a resourceful heroine who can easily be identified with, even though she wears a crown and (initially) “expensive princess clothes.” If there are small princesses or princes in your life, this book definitely deserves a place on their bookshelves.
