PEEPO! has become a classic for babies and toddlers. It follows a baby through the day in a style full of wit, charm and ingenuity. A series of holes peeping through to the next page leads the child on to the next stage in the day, giving a hint of what is to come. An original book that has long delighted young children - and their parents!

About the Author

In the early 1960s, Allan studied teacher training in Sunderland, where he also met Janet, his future wife. He had tackled a wide variety of jobs, ranging from postman to plumber's mate before working as a primary teacher for ten years. Janet, however, discovering that she 'couldn't do the policing job', went on to study graphic design, which led her to her vocation as an illustrator. Several years later, bored with her then current job, and desperate for a creative opening, Janet asked Allan to write a children's book for her to illustrate. Allan, having always wanted to write but being unable to find his niche, suddenly felt 'as though he was a clockwork toy and she had turned the key'. So began the career which would later lead them to become one of Britain's most successful author/illustrator teams, producing ingenious books of the highest quality. Influenced by comics and cartoons, their perfect partnership went on to produce masterpieces including PEEPO!, which reflected Allan's childhood ('I am the Peepo! baby.'), EACH PEACH PEAR PLUM and THE BABY'S CATALOGUE. These books have all become children's classics, with their 'rhythmic prose, their mix of dottiness and sentiment appealing both to young children and to the parents who read them aloud' (Louette Harding, The Daily Mail). A wonderful look at a day in the life of a baby through a baby's eyes.
A play on the early childhood "Peepo" game, this is a meaningful well thought out rhyming story is complimented by gorgeous detailed drawings....Peepo should be on every childs bookshelf.

I can remember having this book in our house as a child myself, and now my son (20 months) loves having it read to him too! For younger kids you can simply say 'Peep' each time you turn the page and see the cut-out circle revealing part of the next illustration, then as they get older you can talk about the illustrations, and then when they're older again you can read the text. A delightful book for bubs, toddlers and young children alike.

5 of 5 Stars! '

This has always been one of my favourite books and is written by husband-and-wife team Janet Ahlberg and Allan Ahlberg. The rhyme and rhythm are just perfect, with the right amount of repetition. My son is 7mths old and is just starting to enjoy peek a boo as a game so have decided its time to get him his very own copy of this book in boardbook version. Would recommend this book to any parent looking for a classic that will never go out of style. Love that it comes in a boardbook version so very young children can enjoy getting their hands on it.
