The new 4th Edition of Dungeons and Dragons has arrived. The new rule set makes numerous changes (eg swap some races and classes, now 30 levels of characters with 3 different "Tiers" L1-10, L11-20, L21-30)
The new powers and abilities that classes and races have are mainly divided into "at-Will", "Encounter" and "Daily" Powers which characters can use to defeat enemies.
Also new to this edition is Skill Challenges, which are basically a system for deciding outcomes to skill related events. (E.G. a chase scene or an interrogation scene.
The 4th Edition version of the games does share a number of features of MMO's, such as more clearly defined character roles and many more options and benefits which effect other party members, rather than just direct bonuses for yourself.
Overall I really like the new rules (in fact the only bad thing is how many 3 & 3.5 books i have on the shelf...)
