Reviews

"The text examines police administration from four distinct perspectives: a systems perspective,…a traditional, structural perspective,…a human behavioral perspective,…and a strategic management perspective. In addition to detailed coverage of management functions and organizational principles, the book emphasized diversity principles and developing police agencies as learning organizations."-- The Journal, Fall/Winter 2013 "Material in this textbook is presented in simple terms for students and practitioners in police administration. The first part of the book introduces the field of police administration and explains the nature of police work, police goals and systems, and police organizational tasks… This eighth edition includes a new chapter on homeland security, plus discussion of new technologies for interagency cooperation and information sharing."-- Reference & Research Book News, December 2013
