Since former US Marine Jack Morgan started Private, it has become the world's most effective investigation firm - sought out by the famous and the powerful to discreetly handle their most intimate problems. Private's investigators are the smartest, the fastest, and the most technologically advanced in the world - and they always uncover the truth. When his former lover is found murdered in Jack's bed, he is instantly the number one suspect. While Jack is under police investigation and fighting to clear his name, the mob strong-arms him into recovering $30 million in stolen pharmaceuticals for them. And the beautiful owner of a chain of luxury hotels persuades him to quietly investigate a string of murders at her high-class establishments. With Jack and his team stretched to breaking point, one of his most trusted colleagues threatens to leave Private, and Jack realises he is facing his biggest challenge yet. With more action, more intrigue, and more twists than ever before, "Private: No. 1 Suspect" is James Patterson at his unstoppable best. |

PrizesJack Morgan is accused of a horrific murder - and not even his own world-class investigators can prove he didn't do it. ReviewsIn chapter one of Patterson and Paetro's lackluster second novel featuring Jack Morgan (after 2010's Private), Morgan, the founder of an L.A. investigative firm "with clients all over the map who demanded and paid well for services not available through public means," returns home to his mansion from an overseas trip to discover the blood-soaked body of his ex-girlfriend, Colleen Molloy, in his bed. Whoever shot Molloy, who tried to kill herself six months earlier at the time of their breakup, has planted evidence incriminating Morgan. Before alerting the police, Morgan has forensic expert Dr. Sci and tech geek Mo-bot comb the scene, but his delay in reporting the crime only makes him more of a suspect to the LAPD. Unrelated subplots, including a serial killer who leaves his victims in different locations of a hotel chain, serve only to add to the book's length. An evil identical twin doesn't help with plausibility. (Jan.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.
