This book addresses the latest trends in the evolving world of no-limit hold’em tournaments. ‘The Raisers Edge’ will assist you to adapt and analyse the game in this post-new-school era. But be warned, this is not a beginners book, and you’ll have to be a strong intermediate player in order to fully appreciate it. The book is written in a discussion format, not a standard style poker text. There are many examples, some very complex, referenced from real-world play and this will help the reader understand the concepts; in fact, to get the most out of the book, I suggest watching the actual hand via online videos. Some of the concepts discussed include 3- and 4-betting, floating and squeezing, smooth-calling, min-raising, thin value betting, the metagame evolution, and equilibrium strategies. Definitely a book for your library, but you’ll need to read it soon, because the game is constantly evolving.
